These are just a few of the hikes available. There are many more that can be hiked from the parking lot at the Bear Mountain Inn or one of the trailheads. Transportation to and from a trailhead can be arranged at the time you book your hike. If you would like to leave from Bear Mountain State Park at the Bear Mountain Inn a loop or lollipop can be hiked so you can be back at your car or meet the bus in front of the Bear Mountain Inn.
The hike to Doodletown is a moderate hike that will take us to what was once a thriving community. Just a short hike from the Bear Mountain Inn or the Hikers Parking near Iona Island we will hike a historic trail to discover this village that once was.
This hike is one of my favorites and there are lots of viewpoints. It is strenuous and will require hiking boots or shoes. We will leave from Bear Mountain Inn and follow several trails to the top of West Mountain. The return trail follows a rugged trail for about one mile with a short scramble for a couple of spots. It is approximately 6 miles and will take about 4 hours. Don't forget to pack a lunch or a snack for a break with a gorgeous view.
Another one of my favorite hikes this hike will take us to a beautiful views of the Hudson River and Bear Mountain. It is a strenuous hike that is always going up. You will need to wear hiking boots or shoes. During the fall and early spring we will be able to discover two old mines, in the summer there is lots of growth so they are harder to spot. About 5 miles and approximately 4 hours.
